As a Swahili Data Annotator you'll label text, speech, and multimodal datasets to a versioned taxonomy, working alongside a growing Swahili specialization that has already helped cut TTS/ASR word error rates from 11.2% to 4.3% for a multilingual voice program.
Key responsibilities
- Annotate Swahili and English text, image, or audio data to Corpshore AI's project-specific taxonomy in Jwuma
- Apply dialect-aware labeling across Standard Swahili (Kiunguja) and regional variants where relevant
- Peer-review teammates' completed batches before they move to QA
- Flag ambiguous or edge-case items for the QA lead rather than guessing
- Maintain 97%+ accuracy against gold-standard benchmark sets
What we look for
- Native or near-native Swahili with strong written and spoken English
- Meticulous attention to detail and comfort with repetitive, structured tasks
- Basic computer and browser-based tool proficiency (full annotation-tool training provided)
- Available to work onsite at the Nairobi hub, standard shift pattern
- Reliable, punctual, and able to hit weekly throughput targets
Nice to have
- Experience with a second East African language (Kikuyu, Luo, Kalenjin)
- Prior BPO, transcription, or content-moderation experience
