Swahili & East African Languages Annotator

Kampala is Corpshore AI's primary hub for Swahili, home to 300+ in-region annotators and the center of the company's Coastal (Kiunguja), Standard, and Congo Swahili dialect coverage. In this onsite role you'll annotate speech, text, and multimodal datasets across Swahili and other East African languages, directly feeding the AI data validation and education/healthcare-documentation programs the Kampala hub runs for global clients.

Key responsibilities

• Label Swahili and Luganda audio, text, and image data to a versioned annotation taxonomy in Jwuma
• Apply dialect-specific guidance across Coastal, Standard, and Congo Swahili variants
• Complete structured peer review of teammates' annotation batches
• Escalate ambiguous or low-confidence items to QA leads rather than guessing
• Sustain accuracy at or above the 97% gold-set benchmark

What we look for

• Native or near-native Swahili; working knowledge of Luganda or another Ugandan language a plus
• Strong written and spoken English for taxonomy instructions and QA notes
• High attention to detail and comfort with structured, repetitive digital tasks
• Available onsite at the Kampala hub on a standard shift schedule
• Basic digital literacy; formal annotation-tool experience not required

Nice to have

• Experience in education, healthcare documentation, or e-learning content
• Prior transcription, subtitling, or translation work
• Exposure to a second Bantu language
